Lake Nipissing Vacation Tips

A vacation on Lake Nipissing’s South Shore provides an abundance of activity and fun. There’s lots to do for the whole family all year round.┬áTake the kids down to play in the water or on our clean, sandy beaches or out to challenge the panfish, or simply sit back and enjoy the fresh air and breathtaking scenery.

Other exciting activities include golfing on the lush green of one of four courses, or swinging the racquet on our tennis courts.

Some other less challenging activities include visiting local towns, museums and other points of interest as well as hiking our trails, picking berries, birdwatching and so much more, like a cruise on the Chief Commanda II or a visit to Science North in Sudbury.

Our beautiful Lake Nipissing is renowned for it’s communities of ice fishing huts spread like quaint villages accross the ice of the main lake, Callander Bay and South Bay. Few are the days when the ice isn’t perfect for a great escape to a cozy warm ice hut.

Other winter activities include cross country skiing, snowmobiling on our many trails or skating on our public rinks.

Whatever your pleasure, it’s all here for you – just a few hours north of Toronto.

Facts about Lake Nipissing
Lake Nipissing is the 5th largest inland lake in Ontario and is known by the Ojibway people as “Gichn-bee” or “Big-water”.
Lake Nipissing was an indispensable east-west route for travellers of the fur trade.

The South Shore of Lake Nipissing stretches from Callander Bay to South Bay, where the South River enters Lake Nipissing. As the Township of Nipissing was one of the first established areas on the lake, this area is steeped in history.

For those interested in the history of Nipissing Township we recommend to visit the museums of this area.

I took my family on vctaaion this at year at Lake Havasu and stayed at this rental. I cant say enough about how pleased we were with the rental. It was really one of the best vctaaions we have ever had largly due to the rental property and the variety of recreational activities just outside the door. We plan to come back during spring break next year 2012. As soon as we have nailed down the dates I will get in touch with you to reserve the place. What a beautiful rental and well worth the price we paid.
